Prarie Grove Airlight Telephone Booth
This Airlight Outdoor Telephone Booth located in Prarie Grove was the first phone booth added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2015. This was painted from a photo that was in the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, so the credit should go to the photographer. The glow of the incandescent light reminded me of Hopper’s Nighthawks so I finally painted it after the photo sat on my desk for a year or so.
Dreamland Barbeque
Every year we go to the beach. For the past 7 or 8 years we have taken my son and 4 of his friends with us. It started when our daughter started working in the summers and couldn’t go to the beach with us anymore. We told our son he could bring a friend., but he couldn’t narrow it down beyond these four, so he asked if he could bring them all. With trepidation we said ok. Who wouldn’t want to take 5 teenage boys to the beach? Now, they’re all grown we wouldn’t have it any other way. We still make our way to the beach with all five of them piled into the back of the Suburban and we roll them out to stretch their legs and eat lunch when we get to Birmingham, Alabama at Dreamland Barbeque.
Tetrahedrons
The tetrahedron fascia on this garage in Downtown Mena, Arkansas cast some really interesting shadows. Another painting from the red phase.
